4.08am – I’m not giving up on breastfeeding totally, I mean, at least not the main purpose which is to provide breast milk for little milkie. But then again, within only 2 weeks… despite the fact that my nipples had been “injured” several times, I’d fallen with the idea of breastfeeding. It felt so nice to be able to spend some quiet times with your daughter, having her so close to you, and seeing her growing. But alas… for her health benefits and to ensure that she’s drinking enough and gaining weight, and to have a piece of my mind (stop whoever from constantly nagging at me and keeping myself sane), I had to make this tough decision to express it out so that we all are sure that she’s drinking it…
I know I probably won’t be able to get her to breastfeed directly again after making this decision… I know I will miss that feeling… But I don’t really have much choice…
(At the end of the day)
I’d been reading on the Internet for almost the whole day. Trying to find as much information on pumping. To be more exact, exclusively pumping. I needed to know anything and everything. And thankfully, there were some information on it, especially on the kellymom’s site. And thankfully, I’m not the only one facing this issue – to exclusively pump instead of breastfeeding. In fact, there were various reasons, ranging from problems with latching, due to work, or even for some, they just prefer the idea of pumping it out. But the best of all is, it did work out for quite a number of mothers.
So what are the things to note for exclusively pumping?
Basically, you need a pump, preferably a double pump. And then next, some containers or bags to store the breast milk. Yes, it’s just that simple. The next thing is just to pump and pump. Preferably at least 8 times a day, or once every 2-3 hours.
I have the containers, but as I already had a free Medela single pump, I didn’t want to waste it, and so I’m sticking to this for now, and see if I can keep up with it. Anyway, my milk can’t be stored as of now. So I’m just letting it soak onto the towel… *pout*
